Бывший военно-морской офицер Морис видит собственное бездыханное тело, свисающее с мачты его парусника «Бо Сежур». Спустя несколько часов он просыпается на пляже, но никто не может его видеть или слышать. Он мертв — судя по всему, это самоубийство. Что происходит? То, что семья рада избавиться от него, становится болезненно очевидным из резкой и холодной реакции трех его дочерей и бывшей жены на его смерть. Морис начинает расследовать собственную гибель. И тогда он обнаруживает, что существуют несколько «видящих» — людей, которые всё ещё видят его и с которыми он может разговаривать… но почему именно эти люди?
