Джон Портер уходит из SAS после спасательной операции в Ираке накануне американского вторжения в 2003 году, в ходе которой погибли двое его товарищей. Виновником стал тринадцатилетний мальчик, которого Портер не смог убить, из-за чего тот возложил на себя ответственность. Спустя семь лет Портера «реактивируют» после похищения журналистки Кейти Дартмут теми же террористами, с которыми он сражался семь лет назад, включая того самого мальчика — Асада.
