Adapted from a 1936 true story, Nagisa Oshima's In the Realm of the Senses (1976), filmed during a period of sexual liberation and featuring unsimulated sex scenes, is a provocation aimed at Japanese society. Drawing on the making-of footage and interviews from the period, David Thompson brings in contemporary members of the crew (Koji Wakamatsu, production manager) and other personalities, such as filmmaker Catherine Breillat.

Documentary that focuses more on the titular movie's cultural and historical contexts and philosophy underpinning the book than on its production and reception. Features new archive material of both Stanley Kubrick and Anthony Burgess.

In 2014, the movie « Mommy » directed by Xavier Dolan, got the Special Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. This was a great achievement for this director prodigy from Quebec, who had just turned 25. The script - a tumultuous relationship between a single mother and his hyperactive and violent son - and the bold direction electrified the audience. Shot in Montreal, the documentary by Tessa Louise Salomé tells the genesis of this family drama. It also reveals the failures of the society in Quebec : the failure of the mental institution and the impoverishment of the middle class.
